Caramel apples

We hit the jack pot with caramel apples this year.

Here is the recipe to our success:
  • make it an after school activity (instead of after dinner)
  • use home made caramel
  • label the sticks so you know whose is whose
  • sprayed wax paper so they don't stick
Caramel apples aren't really kid friendly. Luckily they love watching the process and deciding what is going to go on their apple. This year our choices for toppings included: mini chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, coconut, crushed kit kat and butterfinger.
We dipped and decorated and then put them in the fridge for after dinner. They were delicious and the perfect before bed time snack.
