Decorating

We've been decorating! We're not interior decorators at all, but at least there is stuff on the walls!

First up...the, shall we say, dining room.
I think I've mentioned before that our house is covered in wall paper. Most of it isn't horrible, at least that is what everyone says when they walk through it. I'm sure they'd be singing a different tune if it was their house.
So anyway, we bought some cute decorations at Tai-Pan a week or two ago and I decided to put them up without re-doing the wall paper. The bare walls were buggin'. Well, they just looked weird.
Brent suggested seeing how hard it was going to be to rip the wall paper off. To our surprise it came off in sheets (a different story than the bathroom that came of in itty-bitty pieces). We went with it. Everything had to be sanded down because the glue didn't come with most of it. That put a thin layer of grit throughout the house. Thanks to our trusty new vacuum most of it was gone in minutes.
Then we painted the wall red. Kind of scary, but it turned out pretty good. We had to do 3 coats because the guy at Ace said their paint was so good we didn't need primer. Note to self: always use primer...or paint with primer. The picture makes it look really bright and kind of orangey-pink. It's not. It is a dark bright red. Does that make sense? No? Well the color is called ripe current. Get the idea now? No? Just come see it.
The wall needs something else I just don't know what. If you have any suggestions let me know. I'm well aware that the arrangement doesn't look right or complete or something. Anyway...that is how our kitchen looks for now. The rest of the wall paper will have to wait for a bit. Our children were feeling neglected after that little project.

On to the boys room
No major renovations here. Like I mentioned, our kids couldn't handle another big painting project. And to be honest, neither could I. We opted to just get something on their walls. We're going for a vintage sports theme here. Corbin was also requesting pictures of him. Who can resist that cute little smile? Again, suggestions are welcome on what you would do to make it look complete. Paint the walls, part of the walls...I'm drawing a blank on how to pizzaz it up.

Reagan's room
Thursday we had to make a quick trip to Ogden to pick up a deep freezer. Long story short: apparently Cazin's in Evanston doesn't care if they have your business...and they don't mark their freezers up so they can't go on sale. Strange. Anyway...we picked up the freezer at Sears' warehouse and made a pit stop in Quilted bear since it was the closest bathroom. We walked out with some cute decorations for Reagan's room. I think eventually we'll paint her walls a really pale pink and get some matching furniture. For now, this is how it is. It makes it feel much cozier in her room.

So there are our adventures in decorating. It is an ongoing process but I am happy to have things on the wall.

So cute! We love a red wall...especially in the kitchen! So cute, and I am pretty sure I have sampled that paint color on my wall. I love it. And the kids' rooms all turned out great. Paint will always make your rooms look different and feel more cozy. We, excuse me, I did stripes in the boys room with two gallons of the same color of paint but one was glossy and the other flat. The contrast is great and its not too much work! Have fun decorating.

ps...how do I make cute photo collages like yours...I'm jealous! :)

I could just tell when I was at your place that you weren't long for that wallpaper. It's fun to make the change and I'm glad it came off easy in the kitchen. The rest of that style will probably be the same. It all looks good. Way to go.
