Our Thanksgiving adventures

Our Thanksgiving started out great. We drove to Evanston on Wednesday with hardly a peep from the little one. The amazing part is that he only slept for about an hour of the trip. He's getting pretty good at these 5-6 hour trips. Luckily we had great roads, considering a storm had passed through part of the way the night before.
Thursday we had dinner with about 60 of Brent's closest family. No, seriously, we all crammed in his Grandparent's home and had dinner. It was fun to see so much family. We're really blessed to have such a great family that we get to spend time with. After dinner we went to his Grandma Timperly's house for some after dinner entertainment. It is always an adventure up there. Bridger had his first taste of pumpkin bread, and he ate about 5 slices by himself. After a couple of games of Pit, we called it a night. There was a lot of early morning shopping to be done.

On Tuesday or Wednesday I had decided that we didn't need anything at the early morning Wal-mart sale. My mind was quickly changed...for reasons of "Christmas Giving" I won't mention what changed my mind. We set our alarms for 4:15 and decided to go. Luckily Brent's sister, Julie, was really concerned about getting certain items and she was in line at 4. Yes, that is AM. We just slid in line next to her (with no objection from the other people in line). She was second in line so as the doors opened, we had to run for our lives. It was kind of a rush. If you've never done it, do it at least once. Its pretty fun. We got our merchandise and headed back to our beds. Oh, as luck would have it I ran into a former classmate at Wal-Mart. Isn't it always nice to see people that you haven't seen for oh, six years, when you haven't showered, put any make up on, combed your hair...yeah, lovely. Anyway...

Friday we spent most of the day helping Susan get her house ready for the holiday season. This included a few more trips to Wal-Mart, some crazy Christmas music from Nicole, very cold temperatures, and lots of laughs.
This is where I found Bridger relaxing. It's a baby bouncy chair (if you can't tell). He climbed up there all by himself and just enjoyed it for a while.

Bridger loved this tree that Susan had. A little train runs on the track and it plays some music. He was mesmerized by it. As I was putting the tree up, I looked over and saw this. So cute. He loved to watch it go around and around.

Bridger loved the outside decorations. I think he was just happy to be outside. It was brisk, but nothing he couldn't handle.

Sadly that is where the pictures of the weekend end. Friday afternoon, after our fuel filter was replaced, we headed to Mtn. View. My mom, dad, and Andrea were putting the finishing touches on an awesome Christmas display in their house. *Mom, this means you have to post the pictures on your blog* Bridger played while we chatted. He wasn't his usual happy little self though. We chalked it up to being tired from virtually no sleep the two previous days. We woke about midnight to the sounds of a little one throwing up. Lovely...all of you who are parents can sympathize, I'm sure. We had never experienced this before. I thought I would throw him in the tub, but as I was trying to get his pj's off, he was falling asleep. We just changed his clothes, washed him up and laid him back down. He slept the rest of the night. Yesterday he was a sick little boy. I won't give the details, but I knew it was going to be a long day when my mom said, your son is stinky, and I think it leaked through his pants. This was the beginning of about 5 loads of laundry after 3 more puking episodes (and some other stuff too). He finally relaxed and went to sleep. Only to wake up once more in the night with diarrhea and throwing up. Today he woke up drank a ton, and went right back to sleep. We got ready to go and he was awake enough to eat a little bit. He ended up sleeping all the way back to Douglas. I think he's about over it.
So, that was our Thanksgiving. It was really fun to see all of our family. I'm glad that we were at my mom and dad's when he was sick. An extra set of hands is great when you're dead tired and have a sick baby. Thanks Mom, for all your help and concern.
Now it's back to real life for a few weeks. We are so excited to go home for Christmas. Brent's aunt pointed out a scary thing...only 14 1/2 weeks until our baby is born. Yikes!! I'm not sure I'm prepared yet.

Glad you had a pretty good Thanksgiving! I can definitely sympathize with this. Aren't those about the worst sounds you can hear as a mom? The squishy diaper, and the wretching. . . ugh. We haven't dealt with it this season yet, but I know it will come!!
