We are trying to plan a quarterly activity for primary. It will be in November and I am seeking any suggestions. We plan to only have it be about an hour (hour and a half, max). The theme will obviously be something along the thankful lines. Any suggestions would be appreciated here...such as crafts, games, food, etc. etc. Thanks for your help!! Oh, there are about 20 kids in primary.

Wish I had some ideas in mind for you but I don't right now. I'm sure you'll get some ideas, though. I just wanted to tell you I had to chuckle when you said "oh we have about 20 kids in primary" In our little town, we have 120 kids in primary. It's crazy but I tell you - - the hair stands up on the back of my neck when they sing. It's like heaven. :)
Be thankful you're not planning in Janet's ward...
How about feathers in the turkey's tail for things they're thankful for. Maybe buy some air drying clay and have kids fashion a pinchpot body and head of a turkey, then add the feathers after they have written what they're thankful for on the paper feathers.
Large group activity could be a story about someone who was thankful...
Mom
I sent you an article about a Primary activity I read in the Deseret News. Let me know if you don't get the article via e-mail. Be sure and share with us what you wind up doing.
We did this last year. I liked it when we put together a FHE packet for the kids to take home and share with the fam. We did a Gratitude FHE packet. THey did rotations and learned a lesson that they could in turn teach, a song, an activity (writing letters of gratitude to bishop or missionary, or anyone else for that matter) and a treat which was the oreo turkey with candy corn for the tails. We had 140 kids and about half would show for activities so we had to do stations.
ALso one year we did service projects. My counselor called the humanitarian center in slc and got ideas that kids could do and we did stations putting those things together. They did scrapbook type picture books, tied flannel blankets, put together calendars for older people (don't remember the details on that one) and there was one other.
Good luck, Primary activities are fun. The kids in primary are so much more grateful than YM/YW. :)
i'm like janet - i don't have any useful suggestions. the only idea i came up with was tracing hands and turning them into turkeys. but i think your mom and jeanna both had good ideas. good luck!
