Happy Birthday...to me

We decided to do something more than go to dinner for my birthday this year. I had a doctors appointment the next day in Ogden so we decided to go and make a little trip.
My mom met us between Evanston and Mtn. View and took the boys for us, for the night. They were so excited to go to Grandma and Grandpa Hamblin's house.

From there we headed to Salt Lake to watch the Joseph Smith movie. I know, we're only about 4 years behind everyone else. What a great movie. We thought we knew what to expect and so when the missionaries told us to grab some tissue, we grabbed a couple of courtesy tissues. I should have grabbed the box. Maybe it was because I'm pregnant?! I don't know, but we loved the movie. If you haven't been down to the Joseph Smith building to watch it, do it.

After the movie we headed for Ikea. I've been dying to go see it since it opened. I first heard about Ikea in Russia. Nine years later and I finally got to go to one. We opted to eat lunch there as well. It was a good decision. Loved the Swedish almond torte and the Swedish meatballs...and the Swedish candybar. Yumm. If you go there, eat lunch. Now that I think of it the breakfast menu looked pretty good too! After filling our tummies we thought we would browse around. Such fun stuff. We started in the showrooms and we were a little dissapointed that it isn't stuff we would probably put in our house, but if you lived in a small apartment in say Europe or New York it would be awesome! It was still fun to look at everything they had. Then we went down to the bottom that is the actual store. The place is huge. We spent 2 1/2 hours just looking. We were doing the speed version and we were tired by the time we were done. We'll have to go back sometime with something specific in mind to look at. I was so overwhelmed with all they had that I couldn't even think of something to buy. I wanted it all (every kitchen product you could think of, frames, storage options, etc.). Such a fun store. Everyone needs to go at least once.

From Ikea we went to the mall for some low key, kid-less shopping. It was nice to browse whatever store we wanted without worrying about little hands. Sorry Bridger and Corbin, love ya, but you're not fun to shop with!

Next on our itenerary was dinner. We headed back to Salt Lake and hit Rodizio's. It was yummy, as always, and we walked out of there stuffed to the brim.

Our final stop was the Bee's game. We had great seats. The only problem was that it was so stinking hot. I seriously couldn't cool off until the game was almost over. I know most of that was being pregnant, but I didn't think I was going to make it. I had to eat the biggest ice cream cone to get me to cool down. You do what you gotta do sometimes!

It was a fun day. It was nice to get away for even a day to just spend time together.

29 is feeling fine! Ha!! I guess I better live it up.

What a fun getaway! We haven't been to Ikea yet. We drive by it all the time. Eventually we'll actually stop. Glad you had such a fun birthday!
