I would like to have Bridger potty trained by the end of the summer (if not sooner). I think that he is completely ready, it is me that is having trouble. I don't know how to potty train a kid. Somehow those instructions didn't come with him.
A couple of weeks ago we went and bought all the potty training essentials: underwear, stickers, and treats. I've read a couple of things about how to potty train a child. It just didn't seem to be clicking with him. He just cried and cried to have his diaper back. I don't want to traumatize him so back to the diapers we went. I know, I know, once we start we shouldn't give up. I just want to be able to do it and feel like I am ready to put my whole heart into it and give him all the encouragement he needs without feeling completely frustrated too.
So, once again, I am asking for your experience. I know every kid is different and different things work for them. I want to know what worked and what didn't for your kid. Don't worry if someone says something didn't work for them and it did work for you or visa versa. I want to hear it all. The good the bad and the ugly!!

My Izzy was potty trained in 2 days. I put the potty chair in the middle of the living room or dining room & she ran around naked for days. I set a timer for 15 minutes & then i would turn the tv on & she would sit & go. Then if she went she got to get a bean out the jelly bean machine, she got to turn the handle. It was a little bit diff than just a regular piece of candy she got to watch it come down the machine.
I would probably wait until he's really ready. If he's crying for his diaper, it may not be the time. . . . I know there is no way you are going to have 3 kids in diapers, but, boys can be hard. Rohne was 2 1/2, but, his sister really helped and encouraged. Taylee was harder because she had no one to mirror. My nephew, Tyler, Holly's 1st boy, was well over 3 when he was finally ready. They have to WANT to do it. Anyways, when he is ready, I just set a timer for every 10 minutes at first, and then took him to the potty. He didn't always go every time, of course. But, get his favorite drink, and make him drink and drink all day, then he will have to go more. Make a big deal about the potty timer, and make it exciting, too, especially the first time he goes. It took Rohne a couple days of potty timers until it just clicked. It is one of the hardest things to do as a mom. Lots of tears from both mom and child, for me, at least. Just know that your floor is going to get peed on, and you are going to be spraying a lot of cleaner for at least a couple days. Good luck. It will happen he's ready, and when it's all done, it's heaven!
Elmo's potty movie. I don't know why, but it helped Kurt. Not that he was quick! You have the right attitude to be patient. Potty training went tons better with Carie (could've been boy-girl difference, I suppose) when i waited until she was really ready.
My only advice is don't rush it. I rushed it with Lucy and it back fired. She learned to hold it and then was in tons of pain because she wouldn't go.
3 kiddos in diapers would be a pain, but wait until he shows interest.
I agree with Maggie. I was trying to push Alex into it and yesterday out of the blue he didn’t want a diaper. He jumped on the toilet and went pee like he had been doing it forever. Today he has been in underwear and he keeps telling me when he needs to go. I have rewarded him with treats and lots and lots of jumping for joy! He is almost 3 and a half.
