Here are the animals we saw (minus the regular ranch animals such as cows, horses, dogs, etc.) while driving to Jackson yesterday.
Outside of Cokeville there were hundreds of elk in a couple of fields.
This one was exciting because none of us (we had the boys with us) had ever seen one in real life. There were two of them on top of a cliff in Snake River canyon (between Alpine and Jackson).
Pretty cool.
In addition to all the wildlife, we were pleasantly surprised by all the kind people we got to deal with.
- We ate at Quizznos for lunch and at first we thought the workers/owner were going to be annoyed with us. We ordered and then they made sure that the boys were taken care of. The owner even gave us free cookies and drinks for the boys and he made sure that I got them a ham and cheese sandwich.
- After lunch and visiting the elk refuge museum, we went to check in for Brent's Drs appointment. The receptionist looked kind of ornery, but she was incredibly kind. She got all their toys down for the boys and made sure there was a place in the waiting room for them to play.
- One look at the wating room had me making other plans for the boys and me while Brent had his shot. I was pleasantly surprised when every person in the waiting room thought the boys were great. Everyone either smiled at them or talked to them. I have to give my boys credit too, there were no fits thrown while we were there, thank goodness. When we got ready to leave, one man who had been there the whole time even said "goodbye, Bridger" in a non-creepy way, of course.
- While Brent waited his turn to get his shot (Did I mention that to help Brent's back the Dr. prescribed two steroid shots right into his bulgin disc. He got one last week and then the one yesterday. Hopefully he doesn't need anymore.) the nurse let the boys come back and gave them hats and shoe covers to play with (it was an out-patient surgery center). She was so nice and understood them so well because she has two boys almost the exact same ages as Bridger and Corbin.
So, YAY for Jackson. We just might go back again soon, and not for a Drs appointment!

The Elk refuge sounds neat, bet your kids loved it.
sorry to hear about Brent's back, a bulging disk sounds painful.
I remember seeing mountain goats through that same canyon when we lived in Star Valley. They are really cool. Hope your husband's back feels better soon.
