Today's project

I started these about a month ago and I finally had the courage to finish them. The material is beastly. Everything within about 30 feet gets covered in its remnants. They didn't turn out too bad for my first attempt at stockings. I figured out that I have quite a bit to learn about sewing nice rounded edges (the toe and heel). Luckily the material is shaggy and hides most of the imperfections. In a perfect world they would have our names embroidered on the top in red. I'm happy to have them hanging up, for now.

They're so stinking cute- but I have some stuff with that same kind of fabric, and I loathe the mess it makes- probably because my kids love to make messes with it...

I made our stockings a few years ago and had to have my mil show me how to make the toes and heels nice... you have to make small cuts in the inseam perpendicular to the seam you sewed... don't actually cut the seam of course, but it gives it room to be rounded when you turn it right side out... mmmmmmK that made no sense at all, but maybe it'll help *grin*

Those are way cute! I made our stockings similar to those, with the same top, but with crushed velvet (green for the boys, and red for the girls). That fur stuff definitely makes a mess! Did you have a pattern for them, or did you make your own? They look great!

Cute. You are a lot braver than me. I went the easy way and bought ours.

Good job! I bet it was fun with a sewing machine with that fur. I didn't know you sew. I made stockings once and I even lined them. The lining is so small on the inside most of the stocking stuffers end up on the couch. I really should jump on the band wagon and try to make some again. Maybe I am older and wiser now. Well I know I am older.
