Lessons learned

Yesterday we did a little Christmas shopping. Here are the lessons I learned from the car ride down to Utah:
  • Always pack an extra set of clothing for both children
  • Emergency blankets come in handy even when you aren't stranded on the side of the road
  • Air fresheners and the smell of puke do not mix
  • Wet wipes do an amazing job of cleaning up throw-up when there is no alternative
  • Provo canyon is a little bit curvy for a two year old who is looking all around

So maybe you figured it out. Just as we were passing Vivian Park in Provo canyon Bridger started fussing like he had a messy diaper. We decided to pull over as soon as we got to somewhere to pull off the road. That wasn't soon enough. The next thing we heard was him throwing up. Niiiice. Poor little guy. He was so scared and upset. Brent and I just looked at each other with an "are you serious?" look. We got him all cleaned up but we had no clothes for him to wear. So we revised our schedule of shopping and hit Old Navy first. I picked out the first pair of jeans and a shirt and checked out. Lucky for me they were on sale...like 40% off sale. So we got Bridger dressed and headed back in to get some more clothes for the boys. Then on with the rest of our day shopping. I really think he was car sick because he wasn't sick the rest of the day.

That was our adventure yesterday. Nothing too exciting. I mean really, who hasn't had a kid throw up in the car? Me, until yesterday. When we got home I took his whole car seat apart and cleaned it. I didn't know there were so many parts to those things.

Poor little guy! Throw-up is never fun especially in the car! Paul had the privilege of cleaning up fecal material out of a rental car and car seat a few years ago....while we were in Yellowstone. Thank goodness for ice cold rivers:D

Oh man that really stinks! I have had this happen with Gabe once on the way to CA only it wasn't once it was about 15 times from Douglas to West Jordan. Then it passed to Andy when we were about 2 hours from our destination in California. We thought it was car sickness at first. Boy were we wrong! Thank goodness Bridger was not sick. That could have made such a worse day!
