After having a discussion with my cousin, Abbie, we (Brent and I) decided that we should get Corbin in the habit of putting himself to sleep...AKA letting him cry it out. We did this with Bridger when he was 14 months old. I was not about to wait that long with another baby. These days we're doing good to get the boys in bed by about 9:30, so the night time cry wasn't happening. Today Corbin was in dire need of a nap, but didn't want to lay down. Perfect time, right? Right. I let him cry until he fell asleep. I just went in to check on him and the above picture is what I found. Its not nearly as heartbreaking to let him cry in the middle of the day as it is at night when we're tired as well. Its still heartbreaking. Poor little guy.

Crying it out

That's exactly how we were. We waited way too long with Kurt, so we let Carie earlier. So glad we figured that one out! It's a wonderful day when they can go to sleep on their own.
Meany Just kidding. Abbie has had remarkable success with Ella and after 5 nights, she is sleeping through the night and is a much happier daytime baby too. Hope the night goes well with you.
Hey we are right there with you. Just last night Connor cried for almost two hours straight....CRAZY!
With Dylan I am working on letting him lay down when he is tired so he will hopefully learn to fall asleep on his own. There is so much to learn as a mom isn't there. Sometimes I ask myself (and Paul) what I have done wrong because seriously Connor is the worst sleeper....Dylan has to be better right? Hopefully! Both your boys are so dang cute...good luck with sleeping!
It is definitely easier to let them cry it out during the day than at night! It doesn't bother me as much, but when they are supposed to be asleep (and me sleeping, too!), then it's hard, because, yeah, we are all so tired and frustrated! Good luck with tonight...I hope he goes to sleep by himself! :)
Ya. I haven't put it up on my blog yet but Ella slept through the night last night making it four days, not five like my mom put. First night she woke up at 1:30 and cried for an hour and a half. Second night, same things. Third night, she woke up around 5:45 and cried about 10 minutes. Fourth night I heard a little squeak and that was it! Ahh... I'm in heaven. So glad I did it but I don't think I would have done it any earlier.
I can't believe you are one of THOSE moms? Have you never heard of attachment parenting? No, really I applaud you. I have never been able to let me kids cry it out, and that's probably why my almost 3 year old still gets up huh? Good job. I've heard many people have great success with it.
It sure is nice to get your life back, timing is everything and it sounds like you did it right! Congrats on the reclamation!
