The weekend started with a impromptu run to Park City for some ice cream Friday night. We just told the kids that we were going to get a treat and kept on driving. We thought it was pretty fun. I think the kids would have been just as happy with a cone from McDonald's! It kind of helped cure our need to get out of town.
Saturday morning we dyed our eggs. We upped the number we did this year to 36. The kids are getting older and like to have a say in how they are dyed. I'm kind of a fan of the plain colored ones. Brent
Last minute I thought that the primary kids would enjoy a treat. Brent's sister, Julie, makes these all the time so I copied her!! They turned out really cute all bagged up with springy ribbon. I think the kids and any other adult that was lucky enough to snag one, enjoyed them.
Saturday night the Easter bunny came. Do you like the Easter sign I made?
Sunday morning the kids woke up to some scattered eggs and a basket with some goodies. Somehow Corbin didn't get in on the picture taking bit. I was impressed that we rifled through the baskets and found most of the eggs all in time to make it to 9AM church! We are rock stars!!:)
That was our happy Easter! In the weeks leading up to Easter we were able to talk about why we celebrate Easter. With Jackie passing away it made everything so much more real. The older boys really understood the resurrection. Unfortunately they have quite a bit of experience with death and understand the concept of our spirits and bodies being reunited. The reality of the atonement and joy of the resurrection really hit home this year. They are what give us hope to see our loved ones again. It helped the kids to understand that this is how Braden and Ashlee will be able to see their mom again. They also always remember that we get to see Grandpa Lake and Great Grandpa's Hamblin and Kennington again someday. Big concepts for 5 and 4 yr olds. But they get it and that makes me happy.
Easter makes me happy. All of it!
