So I took Bridger to the Dr. this morning. Finally. Let me start from the beginning...
Sunday morning: Bridger wakes up with a small fever and is kind of sluggish. Brent volunteers to stay home with him-how nice... When I got home from church Bridger was taking a nap and he seemed fine all afternoon. The only noticeable symptom was that he didn't want to eat anything. Later that night he came down with a fever of about 99-100 and was really cuddly. He woke up in the night and didn't want to sleep, so into bed with us he went, because I wanted at least a little sleep.
Monday: He was sluggish again, all day. He took a nap, but just wanted to be held most of the time. He, again, didn't want to eat much. He would have a few bites here and there and drink some fluid, if he felt like it. His fever was gone, but it came back again that night. He went to bed with a little bit of Tylenol and slept through the night. At this point Brent is saying...maybe you should call the Dr., this isn't normal for him. It kind of seemed like strep throat (same symptoms as when he had it last summer).
Tuesday: He refused to eat anything. at. all. I had bought some pedialite at the store on Monday so that he would get some sort of nutrition if all he did was drink. Well, he wanted apple juice. He drank a whole sippy cup full when he woke up. As I sat him in his chair to have breakfast, he proceeded to throw up. Great. I thought maybe he's finally getting it out of his system. Maybe his tummy has been hurting this whole time. I decided to look on the internet to see what I could find about strep throat. Sure enough, the symptoms were the same. So I called the Dr. to see if I could get him in. By the time they called me back, he was doing fine and just normal. I figured it was probably a stomach bug and he would be fine.
Wednesday: All seemed well. He was finally eating again and wanted to play with his toys. I was excited that he was on the mend. Then Brent gave him a bath and noticed the nice rash all over his body. Great. I am definitely calling the Dr.
Today: I called the Dr. and they said to bring him right in. Sure enough, he has strep throat. The rash is just another symptom...like it is turning into scarlet fever kind of symptom. We probably could have avoided this, had I just taken him in on Monday or Tuesday when Brent really wanted me too, and I thought I probably should , but didn't want to be the hypochondriac mother. Dr. Blanchard was so nice. She didn't reprimand me or anything. She just felt bad for Bridger. She prescribed some yucky medicine that makes him gag and hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.
Morale of the story: if your usually healthy, happy toddler is really sick for more than a day and your husband is encouraging you, call the Dr. There is probably something wrong!

Poor little Bridger! That's so sad. I've never had strep throat...I had my tonsils out when I was a kid. So a couple things. I need your address so send to jami.hardy@gmail.com because your "handmade" gift is just about done. 2nd...did you know we will more than likely settle in Casper in 3 yrs? How far from there are you?
Thanks for the post! My kids have been sick lately too, and I have been wondering about strep. Maybe I will take them in after all. . .
Hope your little one feels better soon.
Whatever Jami- You're settling in Spokane, REMEMBER!!!
Anywho, since this is YOUR blog Collette, I guess I can also address you *grin* I apparently missed parenting class the day motherly intuition was handed out, so don't feel bad... Bryson had 11 ear infections in 13 months before he had tubes- he never showed symptoms! And the three times I brought him in because he WAS showing symptoms, were probably the only three times in those thirteen months that he didn't have an ear infection. And the trend has pretty much continued with Dallin...
Strep throat: The bane of my existence. Poor Mack has it too. I hope Bridger is feeling better now.
