The good old 90's

I tutor a 6th grade girl from our ward each afternoon. Usually the subject she has homework in is math. Recently they started working on basic algebra. She was really nervous about it, but has found that she is pretty good at it. Today I was telling her that I didn't have algebra until I was in 8th grade. She said, my mom doesn't even know how to do half the stuff I bring home. I said, yeah, you guys must be smarter now than we were. She said (with a very serious, contemplative face) do you think that they didn't teach it in 6th grade 'cause it was like way back in the 90's and stuff??!!! I really had to control my laughter and smiles. I just told her probably so. I was blown away. Way back in the 90's? Imagine if she knew that her mom was probably taking algebra in the 80's! I thought you all might get a kick out of that, since most of us were taking algebra way back in the 90's...and some even earlier!

Good story. Even I was taking Algebra way back in the 90's and I just turned 23. Don't feel too old yet. She is just too young!
