Pumpkin carving

We broke tradition a bit and carved pumpkins on Sunday night. In the Lake family this was traditionally done on Halloween afternoon, so that the pumpkins were in top condition for the night.
This has somehow escalated from the happy jack-o-lantern faces to cool designs we find on the internet to carve. It is fun to see the finished product. Bridger ate a whole package of graham crackers while we carved. Brent gutted all three pumpkins and I carved two of them. It is always fun to have glowing pumpkins on the front steps.
Happy Halloween...a couple of days early!

We were going to carve last night, but it was a no go. So hopefully this afternoon we will crank out some great Jacks. It is a thoroughly messy job but worth every minute. Happy Halloween.

Cute pics! Congratulations on the baby boy! Any names yet? What is your due date?

Boy, those were the days and now I have a huge pumpkin on the front porch uncarved. Maybe I'll have Bill help me do something for tomorrow night when the trick or treaters come.

those are really detailed. i love the pic of them lighted up! i think it's nice to carve a couple days early so you can enjoy them before halloween. though our house is like janet's - three pumpkins uncarved on the front porch. maybe tonight...
